With Agnes' parents, we took turns carrying the kids and survived Jaydon's first flight home...
Kevin's dad picked Agnes and the kids up from the airport while Kevin took the taxi with the rest of our approximately 160 kg's weight in luggages (Agnes' parents took a bus straight home to Ipoh).
We stayed one night at our home in Kota Kemuning, Selangor, and headed 200 km North to Ipoh, Perak, the next day...
...and made it on time for Jacynth's rehearsal as a flower girl at Kar Wai and Shu Yee's (Agnes' former classmate) wedding.
We had our doubts at first but both she and her cousin Kate did a pretty good job!
Jacynth and Kate were even asked to make a guest appearance for the wedding dinner too...
The cousins also had a 'reunion' and met Jaydon for the first time
Just a day after, we celebrated Agnes' mum's 60th and Jacynth's 2nd birthday
We managed to sneak in some time to buy some junk food (kacang putih) and some of Ipoh's other specialties, like Heong Peng (fragrant biscuit)
Jacynth somehow managed to get a free biscuit because the shopkeeper thought she was too cute...
Having to get used to the weather, Jacynth sporting her rosy cheeks...
...and a semi-wrapped-up Jaydon
Here's Jacynth enjoying her Malaysian alternate version of a 'high chair' - bewildered waitresses and waiters would give us a weird look every time we asked for a high chair, as we'd done in Perth, until we realized and corrected ourselves by saying 'baby chair'.
From Ipoh, we left for Penang to spend some time with Kevin's parents
We visited their almost-ready house. As they were in between moving from one place to another, we had to live in a hotel for a couple of days...
We of course celebrated Jacynth's birthday again with Kevin's relatives
...and again with more relatives...
Jacynth had her first experience of a Malaysian park and playground (complete with drenching sweat and mosquitoes)
We also enjoyed great Penang durian, which Jacynth (literally) spat out in disgust, to our dismay
We pampered ourselves at the Bayview Beach Resort in Batu Feringgi, Penang, as part of our homeless couple of days...
...and enjoyed the food we have missed so much!
We took the opportunity to visit the Butterfly Farm, to find that it has improved so much since the last time we were there. We highly recommend it to all families!
We visited Kevin's grandma, whose mobility has been greatly impaired ever since she suffered a stroke...
From Penang, we journeyed back to Ipoh
...to attend Stanley and Li Yien's (another of Agnes' former classmate) wedding where we had personal babysitters free of charge!
Here's Jacynth exploring around Agnes' parents' home
She got another birthday present from Kar Wai and Shu Yee!
More family time with Ah Koo (Agnes' brother)
and some shopping time with Agnes' sister (each with their boys)
Unfortunately, we had to extend our stay in Ipoh due to an unexpected bereavement - Agnes' grandaunty whom we had the opportunity to meet one last time not long before her passing...
By the time we went back to KL, our other 200 plus kg of belongings had already arrived from Perth (not before some drama at the KL airport and with the delivery service while we were in Penang). Kevin's Aunt kept it safe for us at her house while we were away...
We got down immediately to childproofing the house... with the help of Kevin's brother...
We also celebrated Deepavali with Preeta, who visited us twice while we were in Perth
Preeta also visited Agnes and the kids at the house and brought her mum's food which was Agnes' favourite! She actually shared the recipe with us while in Perth, which gave us many weeks of satisfaction whenever we craved for Malaysian food...
We even managed to host a parent's group with all our uni-friends who have also become parents themselves... it reminded Agnes of her mother's group in Perth...
It was rare to have an ordinary day at home... during our first month in Malaysia at least!
But it was great to receive letters all the way from Perth...
...to which we diligently replied...
Jacynth got her first experience of Sunday School in Bandar Sunway Gospel Centre... the older girls immediately warmed up to her and took it upon themselves to watch over her and pamper her!
In Malaysia, it's back to very elaborate Christmas decorations in shopping centres
Also, people take pictures of your kids all the time... even strangers (except this lady below is our friend Celine)!
Would we ever be able to get used to life back here? Would we ever be able to settle down?
